Carbo-Link Specializes In The Design, Engineering And Manufacture Of Structural Elements For High Loads
Carbo-Link was founded in Switzerland in 2000 as a commercial spin-off from EMPA, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology. Carbo-Link’s management has pioneered load transfer technologies for structural CFRP solutions since 1993. The development of this technology laid the foundation for Carbo-Link’s product portfolio.
Carbo-Link is an engineering and manufacturing organisation deeply rooted in material science and innovative technologies. Our purpose is the development, licensing, production and sale of CFRP structural components across multiple industries: aerospace, infrastructure, industry and marine. To that end, Carbo-Link has been AS9100D Aerospace & Defence Certified since 2016.
The mission is to contribute to increased structural efficiency & sustainability of global infrastructure through long-lasting, reliable & cost-effective CFRP solutions. We focus on new developments and the rehabilitation of existing structures. Across both sectors, our CFRP solutions underpin improved sustainability of entire superstructures through longevity and optimum behavioural characteristics
For over 20 years, Carbo-Link has led CFRP innovation, from supplying the crane industry's first CFRP pendants to Liebherr in 2003 to the Stadtbahnbrücke, the world’s first railway bridge fully supported by CFRP cables. With 35+ years of expertise, we continue to advance lightweight custom cables, tubes, and structural components.
Operating from a cutting-edge facility near Zurich, Carbo-Link delivers high-stiffness, high-strength, and durable CFRP solutions, serving both OEM and retail clients with precision and quality.
As a supplier of primary structural components the adoption of the AS9100D quality management system lays the foundation for the consistent supply of products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and/or regulatory requirements. Adopting a universal quality system, implementing risk-orientated management processes, and striving for continuous improvement are fundamental strategic initiatives in improving quality, delivery performance and cost efficiencies at every level.
Product and process development at Carbo-Link follows this consistent quality management system from raw material acquisition and preparation through to manufacture and solution integration. Advanced engineering and manufacturing processes enable Carbo-Link to work within minimal tolerances on a zero-error principle. A tailor-made ERP system provides a seamless, secure and integrated module for traceability of all components through their life-cycle.
AS9100D Aerospace & Defense Certified
Carbo-Link is located in Fehraltorf, around 25 minutes from Zurich Airport, Switzerland. Collaborating with world-renowned research institutions, raw material suppliers and Aerospace component manufacturers in close proximity further adds value to Carbo-Link’s ability to solve complex structural challenges.
Manipulating carbon fibre architecture is essential. In order to process materials in unique ways to maximize structural properties of all solutions, production machinery is predominately engineered and built in house. In-house capabilities includes various automated processes including tape laying, filament winding and consolidation.
