INSIGHTS FROM THE 2025 ST. BARTHS BUCKET REGATTA: SAILING IN TRANQUIL WATERS
The 2025 St. Barths Bucket Regatta, held from March 13 to 16, unfolded under unusually light winds - between 7 and 11 knots - offering sailors a rare test of finesse over force. The gentle breezes transformed the typically spirited Caribbean waters into a serene playground, demanding strategic ingenuity and delicate sail trim. For our team, which specialises in solid carbon rigging, the conditions highlighted the performance advantages of lightweight, high-efficiency rigging systems - designed to deliver even when the breeze barely breathes.
Nowhere was this more evident than in the competitive 'Les Gazelles des Mers' class, where Velsheda, equipped with Carbo-Link's CL SOLID forestay, delivered a commanding performance. In an environment where every millimetre counts when racing against the clock, rigging stiffness and responsiveness are key to enabling rapid adjustments and optimal sail shape - vital advantages in light-air strategy.
