STADTBAHNBRÜCKE
OBJECTIVE
The three most important aspects for the design were minimal disruption to the flow of traffic, an appealing design for the exposed structure and a robust and durable design for all components and details.
SOLUTION
The solid, prestressed roadway slab is suspended from the two free-standing steel arches via inclined, intersecting carbon cables, which transfer their load to inclined supports. There, the curve of the slender arch is visually continued down to the ground as inclined reinforced concrete supports. The intersecting suspension cables made of carbon tensile elements enable an aesthetic and efficient supporting structure at the same time.
